We went as a family and I was worried it would be too much walking. The crew helped a lot and kept things easy for us. My kids loved the beach at Titop and the short swim break. We did the cave visit as a slow walk and it was still enjoyable. Dinner was relaxed and nobody cared if the kids were a bit loud. The next morning kayaking at Luon Cave was calm and not scary at all.
I traveled alone and honestly felt comfortable the whole time. Staff checked on me without being awkward, which I appreciated. I chose the bamboo boat at Luon Cave and it was super peaceful. Sung Sot Cave was busy, but I just took my time and it was fine. The sunset party was easygoing, more like “hang out” than a big show. At night I sat on deck for a bit and it was so quiet and nice.
I’m more of a morning person, so this cruise worked for me. Tai Chi on the sundeck was simple and relaxing, no pressure to be “good” at it. Breakfast had pho and an egg station, which made me happy. Luon Cave in the early hours looked beautiful and calm. The cabin was clean and the bed was comfy. Overall, Hera Grand Luxury Cruise felt smooth and well organized.
This was my first Halong Bay cruise, and I’m glad I didn’t overthink it. The views started right after we left the marina and didn’t stop. Sung Sot Cave surprised me; it’s huge inside. I did the Titop viewpoint and almost gave up halfway, but the top view is insane. Happy hour was a nice bonus because we had a few drinks on deck. After dinner, we tried squid fishing and laughed a lot, even with zero squid.
I wanted something comfortable but not super “luxury stiff”, and this felt right. Staff were friendly and normal, not overly formal. The schedule was clear and everything happened on time. The cave visit was crowded, but that’s Halong, so whatever. I spent most of my time just sitting outside with a coffee and staring at the water. The sunset snack time was simple but really nice. Would recommend if you want an easy trip with good views.
We chose the longer trip and day 2 was my favorite. Ba Trai Dao Beach was honestly gorgeous, clear water and chill vibes. We had enough time to swim and just lay around, not rushed. Trinh Nu Cave was a quick stop and pretty easy to walk through. The pearl farm was interesting for a short visit (and some photos). Back on Hera Grand Luxury Cruise, the evening felt calm and cozy.
I went with a bunch of friends and it worked well for a mixed group. Some of us hiked Titop, some stayed down and swam, everyone was happy. The sunset party was the perfect time to hang out and take photos. We used the happy hour deal and it actually saved us some money. Dinner was good and came out fast even with lots of people. Night on deck was quiet and pretty. Overall, a solid group trip.
It’s the small things that made this feel nicer. Welcome drink and cold towel after the drive was a good start. The cabin had fruit and the herbal foot soak stuff, which felt great after all the walking. Sung Sot Cave was impressive even though it was busy. I picked bamboo rafting at Luon Cave and it was super relaxing. Sunset tea/coffee on the sundeck was the calmest moment of the trip.
I wasn’t trying to spend a lot, but I still wanted a comfortable cruise. Hera Grand Luxury Cruise felt like a good balance. The room was clean, food was decent, and the staff were helpful. Titop Island was crowded, but the swim break was still nice. The buffet lunch before returning was a good move because we were starving by then. Not perfect, but definitely worth it for the views and the experience.

My boyfriend and I wanted something romantic but still casual. We got lucky with weather and had dinner outside, which was really nice. Sunset party was cute and the rice cake demo was fun to try together. We hiked Titop Island for the view, then chilled and took a slow shower back in the cabin. At night we grabbed drinks at the Sky Bar and just talked. The next morning Luon Cave was peaceful and pretty. I’d recommend this for couples.
Just being honest, there are a lot of steps on this trip. Sung Sot Cave and Titop viewpoint both made my legs complain. But the views are 100% worth it, especially from the top of Titop. The crew was kind and kept things organized, so it never felt messy. I loved the quiet night when the boat anchored, it felt like real “holiday mode”. Morning breakfast was simple and good. Overall, I’d do it again, just with better shoes.
We picked the 3D2N option because we hate rushing. Day 2 on the day boat was great, especially Ba Trai Dao Beach where you can actually relax. Trinh Nu Cave was a quick stop and easy to enjoy without stress. The pearl farm was fine, nice to see how it works and then move on. Evenings back on Hera Grand Luxury Cruise were quiet and comfortable. By the end, it felt like we really saw Halong Bay, not just “checked it off.”

CanadaI booked Hera Grand Luxury Cruise because I was burnt out from moving hotels every day. Check-in at the Tuan Chau lounge was simple and the welcome drink was a nice start. Sung Sot Cave was a lot of steps, but inside is really cool and worth it. I skipped the Titop hike and just swam instead, no regrets. Sunset on the deck with tea/coffee was my favorite “do nothing” moment. Slept super well because it was parked in a quiet spot overnight.
