The Mekong Delta Full Day Tour is a day trip from Ho Chi Minh City designed to explore the southern countryside of Vietnam. The journey takes travelers to My Tho and Ben Tre, two of the most well-known areas in the Mekong Delta.
This Mekong Delta Discovery Full Day experience is suitable for visitors who want to see local life along rivers, orchards, and small villages within one day. Guests travel by air-conditioned minivan and join a small group for a more comfortable experience.
The tour includes a boat trip along the Mekong River, passing small islands and local river scenes. Visitors also explore traditional workshops such as coconut candy and honey production. A visit to Vinh Trang Pagoda provides cultural context with a mix of Vietnamese and Khmer architecture.
The experience continues with a hand-rowed sampan ride through narrow canals. Guests also enjoy tropical fruits and live folk music performed by local artists. Lunch is served at a riverside restaurant with regional dishes. The tour is part of many Day trips from Ho Chi Minh for travelers seeking a balance of nature and culture.
It is also commonly selected as a Ho Chi Minh City tour extension for visitors with limited time. In broader Vietnam travel planning, operators such as Halong Bay Cruises often include Mekong Delta experiences in their multi-destination itineraries.

A well-organized full-day trip with a comfortable schedule. The pickup was smooth and the guide gave enough information without talking too much. I liked that the tour wasn’t only about sightseeing but also about seeing how people actually live around the river.
The main boat ride was relaxing, especially when passing small houses, fishing boats, and local activities along the water. The sampan section felt completely different, much quieter and more personal. The coconut workshop was a nice extra stop, and lunch by the river was a good break before heading back.
We chose this for a slower day during our Vietnam trip, and it ended up being a lovely surprise. At first, we worried it might feel too touristy, but the atmosphere was much more relaxed than expected. The best part was simply being on the river, watching boats pass and seeing daily life along the banks. The small canal ride was beautiful, with trees all around and almost no noise. It was one of those moments where you don’t need much happening to enjoy it. The local stops were simple but added more context to the area. We came back feeling refreshed and really happy that we decided to go.
We booked this last minute with friends and just wanted an easy day outside the city. The boat ride was the highlight, sitting back and watching the river life pass by was really relaxing. The fruit tasting, music, and coconut candy stop were simple but enjoyable. The sampan ride through the small canals was very quiet and probably my favorite moment. A good choice if you just want a slow and comfortable day.
I traveled with my parents, so comfort was important for us. Luckily, the whole day was easy and well organized. The guide kept a good pace, and my parents especially enjoyed the peaceful river scenery. Nothing felt rushed, which made it a nice family experience. The fruit tasting and coconut workshop were simple but enjoyable. A relaxing day with a good mix of sightseeing and local culture.
I joined this trip mainly because I wanted a break from the city, and it was exactly what I needed. The countryside views on the way there already made the journey feel different. Once we got on the river, everything became slower and more peaceful. I enjoyed watching local life along the water instead of just visiting tourist spots. The sampan ride through the coconut canals was probably my favorite part, very quiet and relaxing. Simple lunch, friendly guide, and a really refreshing day away from Ho Chi Minh City.

Isabella,
ItalyI joined this after spending a few busy days in Ho Chi Minh City, so I wanted something slower. The countryside views on the way there were already a nice change. The river part was my favorite, just sitting back and watching local life along the water. The fruit stop, honey tea, and coconut canals were simple but enjoyable. It felt less like a busy tour and more like a relaxing day away from the city.
