This 2-day Sapa tour from Hanoi is designed for travellers who want to see Sapa's best in a compact, efficient itinerary — without the cost or time commitment of the overnight train. Day 1 brings you to Cat Cat, a Black H'mong village nestled below the Fansipan foothills, where a two-hour valley walk introduces you to local culture, traditional craft, and a beautiful waterfall.
Day 2 takes you somewhere most people only dream about: the summit of Fansipan at 3,143m — the highest peak in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
The ascent is by cable car (20 minutes of some of the most spectacular aerial scenery in Southeast Asia) and a 600-step stairway to the true peak. One comfortable hotel night in Sapa Town, all meals, an expert English-speaking guide, and return sleeping bus transport are all included. Note: the cable car return ticket (850,000 VND / ~$34 USD) is purchased separately at the station.
06:00–06:30: Pick-up from your hotel in Hanoi's Old Quarter or the bus station. Board the sleeping bus and depart north toward Lao Cai. Settle in for the 6-hour journey.
07:30–11:45: Travel northwest along the expressway to Lao Cai City with one comfort break en route.
11:45–13:00: The bus climbs from Lao Cai to Sapa on the mountain road. Terraced hillsides, cloud-filled valleys, and the first dramatic views of the Hoang Lien Son range appear through the windows.
13:00: Arrive Sapa Town. Welcome drink and tour briefing from your guide. Lunch with local Vietnamese dishes. Hotel check-in.
14:30: Walk to Cat Cat village — a Black H'mong settlement in the valley at the foot of Fansipan Peak. Your guide introduces you to the community's daily life: traditional weaving, silversmithing, and mountain farming. Trek down to the valley floor and the waterfall, with a short stop at the old French hydroelectric station ruins. Scenic uphill walk back — the late afternoon light on the terraced hillsides is beautiful. The driver picks up at the top. Trek: ~2.5 km · 2 hours
16:30: Return to Sapa Town. Free time before dinner. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Meals: Lunch , Dinner

08:00: Breakfast at the hotel. Your guide and driver take you to the Sun World Fansipan Legend cable car station — about 10 minutes from the hotel.
08:30: Purchase your cable car return ticket at the station (850,000 VND / ~$34 USD per person — not included in tour price). Board the cable car for the 20-minute ascent from 1,600m to 2,800m above sea level. The views on the way up — across the Sapa valley, over the rice terraces, and into the Hoang Lien Son range — are extraordinary.
09:00: Arrive at the upper cable car station (2,800m). From here, climb approximately 600 steps to the true summit of Fansipan at 3,143m — the Roof of Indochina. Take your time: the altitude is real, and the steps are steep. At the summit, visit the Bao Nha Pagoda, photograph the summit markers, and take in the panoramic view across three countries. Allow approximately 1.5 hours for the full experience, including the climb and exploration.
11:00: Return by cable car to Sapa Town.
12:00–13:00: Back to the hotel. Shower and check out (facilities available after checkout). Lunch in Sapa. Free time to browse the market or visit a café.

14:00: Board the bus for the return journey to Hanoi with two comfort breaks.
20:30–21:00: Arrive at Hanoi bus station. Tour ends. Safe travels.
