Vietnam's most dramatic 2-day Sapa tour — culture on Day 1, adrenaline on Day 2.
This 2-day Sapa tour from Hanoi combines two completely different experiences into one perfectly structured itinerary. Day 1 takes you to Cat Cat — a Black H'mong village in the valley below Fansipan — for a gentle afternoon walk through local culture, craft, and a beautiful mountain waterfall.
Day 2 takes you somewhere far more dramatic: the O Quy Ho Pass at 2,333m, where the Dragon Cloud Glass Bridge — 768 metres of suspended glass 1,000 metres above the valley — has become Vietnam's most talked-about new attraction.
Along the way, you'll stop at the Lonely Tree — Sapa's most atmospheric natural landmark, standing alone on the mountain slope above a sea of cloud — and at the Silver Waterfall, a 200-metre cascade on the pass road.
One comfortable hotel night, all meals, a local guide, and return sleeping bus transport are included. The Glass Bridge and Lonely Tree ticket ($25 USD) is purchased separately on-site.
06:00–06:30: Welcome at Hanoi bus station. Board the sleeper bus and depart north along the Noi Bai–Lao Cai Expressway — the longest highway in Vietnam, built specifically to connect Hanoi with the northwest highlands. Settle in for the 6-hour journey.
07:30–11:45: Travel northwest along the expressway toward Lao Cai City with one comfort break en route. The flat expressway gives way to increasingly dramatic highland scenery as you approach the mountains.
11:45–13:00: The bus leaves the expressway and climbs the mountain road from Lao Cai to Sapa. Terraced hillsides, cloud-filled valleys, and the first views of the Hoang Lien Son range appear through the windows.
13:00: Arrive Sapa Town (1,600m above sea level). Welcome drink and tour briefing from your guide. Lunch with local Vietnamese dishes. Hotel check-in.
14:30: Short drive to the gate of Cat Cat village. Walk down to this Black H'mong community in the valley below — past traditional wooden houses, weaving demonstrations, and silver jewellery workshops — to the waterfall and the ruins of the French-era hydroelectric station. Scenic uphill return as the afternoon light settles on the terraced hillsides. The driver picks up at the top. Trek: ~2.5 km · ~2 hours
16:30: Return to Sapa Town. Free time before dinner. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Meals: Lunch , Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel in Sapa
07:00: Wake up to mountain sunrise. Breakfast at the hotel. Charge your phone — Day 2 is all about photography.
08:00: Bus pickup from the hotel. Depart along the O Quy Ho Pass road — one of Vietnam's Four Great Mountain Passes — climbing to 2,333m above sea level. The scenery on the drive up is dramatic: switchback roads through cloud forest, valley views opening with each bend. Stop at the pass summit, which is a prime spot for cloud-hunting and panoramic mountain photography.
09:00: Arrive at the Dragon Cloud Glass Bridge complex. Walk up the vibrant, colourful staircase to the elevator. Ride to the bridge level and begin your crossing of the 768-metre Hao Han Qiao Glass Bridge — three transparent sides, 1,000 metres above the mountain valley.
Take your time: the views across the Hoang Lien Son range are extraordinary, and the sensation of standing on transparent glass above a 1,000m drop is unlike anything you've experienced. After the bridge, walk to the Lonely Tree viewpoint — a single ancient tree on the open mountain slope, frequently surrounded by drifting cloud. Allow ~1.5–2 hours at the complex. Glass Bridge ticket: $25 USD purchased on-site.
11:00: Stop at the Silver Waterfall (Thac Bac) on the descent — a 200-metre cascade framed by cloud forest, included in the tour's Cat Cat + Silver Waterfall ticket. Walk the stepped path to the base. Return to the hotel.
11:30: Back to the hotel. Check out (shower facilities available after checkout).
12:00: Lunch at the hotel restaurant. Free time to browse Sapa Town's market or grab a final coffee with a mountain view.
13:30: Board the bus for the return journey to Hanoi. Comfort break en route — opportunity to stop at local specialty shops.
20:00–20:30: Arrive at Hanoi bus station. Tour ends. Safe travels.
